Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about listing your stay with Starnook.
How do I list my stay?
It's simple and low-effort on your side. Send us a few details about your place and the stargazing it offers, and we'll build a draft listing for you. Nothing goes live until you've seen it and approved it.
What makes a stay eligible?
The main thing we look for is genuinely dark skies: somewhere guests can step outside and actually see the stars. Rural and remote locations are ideal, but if you're unsure whether your spot qualifies, just ask and we'll happily take a look.
What do you need from me?
A few good photos, a short description of your place, a link to your own website or booking page, and a sense of what makes the stargazing special. If you're missing anything, we can help you pull it together.
How long does it take to go live?
Once we have your details, we'll put a draft together and send it over for your approval. From there, it's live as soon as you're happy with it.
Does it cost anything to list with Starnook?
No. There's currently no listing fee, subscription, commission or booking charge of any kind.
Will there be fees in the future?
Listing is free now, and it stays free while we build the platform and prove its value. That's our commitment for the foreseeable future. Much further down the line, once Starnook is genuinely driving traffic and bookings, we may introduce a modest annual fee to help cover running costs and keep the platform going. If that ever happens, it would be entirely optional: you'd be free to decline and remove your listing with no ongoing obligation. Nothing is ever charged without your agreement.
If it's free, what's in it for you?
Quite simply, we’re building something we genuinely care about. Starnook is a project created to celebrate the UK’s dark skies and the incredible places where people can experience them. Your stay is what makes that possible, you’re providing the places where people can step outside, look up and enjoy something truly special. We’re just showing them why.
Am I tied into anything?
No. There's no contract, no lock-in and no notice period. Listing with us is entirely on your terms.
How do I remove my listing?
Just let us know and we'll take it down. Your listing and materials come down with you.
What happens to my photos and content if I leave?
They're yours and they leave with you. We won't keep using your photos or words once your listing comes down.
How do you use my data?
We only use what's publicly displayed on your website and what you give us to build and run your listing. We don't sell your data or pass your contact details to third parties.
How do bookings and enquiries work?
Every link, whether from your listing page, a featured blog or our newsletter, sends guests straight through to your own website or booking page. We don't take payments or handle bookings through Starnook at all.
How will Starnook bring in guests?
Our main focus is creating content around stargazing. This will be primarily through pages, blog posts, guest contributors and newsletters.
Who's behind Starnook?
We're a small team of five who love stargazing but live where city lights make truly dark skies hard to find, a frustration we all share, which is why we started Starnook together.
What are the terms and conditions?
A full set of terms is in progress and will be published here before you're asked to agree to anything. In short: anything you provide stays yours, we won't use it beyond your listing without asking, nothing goes live without your approval, and if you ever choose to leave, your listing and materials come down with you.
Do I get to approve my listing before it goes live?
Yes. Nothing goes live until you've personally approved it. We’re not trying to represent your beautiful stay without making sure every detail is accurate and you have had a look at what we’re doing.
How do I update my listing?
To keep things simple while we're getting started, if you choose to list your stay with Starnook, you'll have access to a private form where you can submit changes at any time, free of charge. If anything is ever urgent, you're welcome to email or call us directly.
How do I get in touch?
You can reach us any time by email or phone. We're a small team and we aim to reply quickly, usually within a day or two.
